Dr. Wentong Cai is a professor in the School of Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is also the Director of the Parallel and Distributed Computing Centre (PDCC). His expertise is mainly in the areas of Modeling and Simulation (particularly, modeling and simulation of large-scale complex systems, and system support for distributed simulation and virtual environments) and Parallel and Distributed Computing (particularly, Cloud, Grid and Cluster computing).

Suraj received his bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering with distinction from University of Pune, India in 2004. Thereafter, he obtained a master’s degree in 2007 from JTH Sweden and Philips Research Laboratories, The Netherlands. During his master thesis, he worked with renowned scientist Prof. Dr. Gerard De Haan at Philips Research. He further went on to acquire a Ph.D. (magna cum laude) in robotics from the Technische Universität München, Germany under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alois Knoll. His Ph.D. thesis was focused in the area of computer vision applied to real world robotic systems. During his research career, he has been involved in numerous research projects most of which were industry driven. He has also been active in the area of medical robotics and was one of the founding members of the iRAMIS project. Currently, he is a Research Fellow jointly at TUM Create, Singapore and the department of Robotics and Embedded Systems, TUM, Germany. He has been involved in the high profile European project SMErobotics. His primary research interests are computer vision, artificial intelligence and robotics

Jordan Ivanchev

Jordan Ivanchev obtained his M.Sc. degree from the University College in London (UCL) in Electrical Engineering and Communications and his B.Sc from the Jacobs University Bremen (JUB) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Since January 2011 he held a position as a Research Associate in the MINDS machine learning group at JUB, working on hierarchical architectures for motion control based on recurrent neural networks. He joined TUM CREATE in June 2013 to work on traffic modelling and optimisation at the ”Modelling and Optimization of Architectures and Infrastructure” group. His research interests include: automated agent-based simulation calibration, optimal sensor placement problems, social optimal routing strategies, traffic modelling, sensing and control.

Sorina Litescu received her Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering from the University “Politehnica” of Bucharest and her M.Sc. degree from the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics at the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest. Since February 2013 she has joined TUM CREATE, a joint research programme by Technische Universität München  (TUM ) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), based in Singapore. She is part of the research project "Modelling and Optimization for Architectures and Infrastructure". With the current research she uses complexity concepts to investigate urban environments with the application in transportation systems. Her topic deals with Information Dynamics and Performance Analysis in Human Complex Networks. Before TUM CREATE she was as a researcher at ETH Zurich and Future Cities Laboratory in Singapore where she was part of a multidisciplinary team dealing with urban related topics.

Yadong Xu has graduated from the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in 2011, with the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering) with first-class honours. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Computer Engineering, NTU. He is currently working on the parallel simulation engine of SEMSim Traffic in TUM CREATE RP 5. His research interests are parallel and distributed computing, and agent-based modelling and simulation.

Dominik Pelzer received his postgraduate degree (Diplom-Physiker) in physics and economics from Heidelberg University, Germany. He is currently working as a Research Associate at TUM CREATE, Singapore. Prior to this, he was employed as a Research Assistant at the Fraunhofer-Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) in Freiburg, Germany. His research areas include optimization of energy systems and urban transportation infrastructures.

Daniel Zehe received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in Computer Systems in Engineering from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany in 2011 and 2012 respectively. He is currently working as a Research Associate at TUM CREATE, Singapore and pursues his Ph.D. at Technische Universität München. Before starting at TUM CREATE in 2012, he worked at BMW Research and Technology. His fields of research include multi-resolution modeling for traffic systems as well as cloud computing applications for large agent-based simulation.

Michael Wagner studied Computer Science at the University of Rostock and received his B.Sc. degree in September 2012. The topic of his thesis was the development of "Evolutionary Methods for Selecting Herbicide Combinations in CeBrUs" in cooperation with the Department for Crop. Health. In October 2012 he started work at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on a project concerned with multi-agent based crowd simulation and evolutionary optimization. After his appointment at NTU in February 2014 he joined TUM CREATE. His interests include evolutionary optimization, agent-based systems and modelling & simulation.

Eloy Retamino is currently pursuing a PhD in Robotics at the Technological University of Catalunya. At TUM-CREATE he will participate in the development of knowledge-based models for endowing service robots with planning and other reasoning capabilities. His research in the PhD is focused on qualitative spatial reasoning, particularly on grounding qualitative spatial symbols in a geometric representation of the environment.

Michael Popow works as Software Developer for the "Modelling and Optimisation of Architectures and Infrastructure" group at TUM CREATE. He received his B.Eng. degree in Software Engineering from the University of Esslingen in Germany. Right after finishing his studies he joined TUM CREATE. Currently he is working on a simulation demonstrator app for iOS and the development of a Cloud Backend Service for the ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) lab.

Arjun studied Mechanical Engineering in Nanyang Technological University and graduated in 2013 with a specialisation in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. For his Bachelor Thesis, he worked on GlobalDrive 2012/13 where he and his team designed and built a 4 wheel steered, wirelessly driven electric car.
After graduation Arjun worked as a Mechanical Engineer in Keppel shipyard for 2 years before joining TUM CREATE in Sept, 2015. Currently he is working on a robotics project with CAAS as part of the Aviation Challenge 2. His primary area of work is the design, construction & testing of mechatronics components, and end effector for manipulating cargo.

Caixia Cai received her Bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering and her Master degree in Informatics from China Agricultural University, in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Since December 2010 she has started her Ph.D. in robotics at Technische Universität München (TUM), Germany under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alois Knoll. She joined TUM CREATE in March 2016. Currently, she is working on a robotics project with CAAS as part of the Aviation Challenge 2. Her research interests include Visual Servoing, Human-Robot Interaction, Robotic Grasping and Manipulation and Learning for Robotics.
